The Chemours Company (Discovery Hub) – Advisory Services
A global leader in titanium technologies and chemical solutions, Chemours was looking for a home for its new Discovery Headquarters. They were seeking out a location that could meet long‑term research needs while reinforcing its deep roots in Delaware, where the company’s legacy began.
Providing business advisory services, our team supported Chemours through the full evaluation and decision‑making process. We assessed existing assets to understand research processes, equipment requirements, and long‑term adaptability. We also developed and tested conceptual planning scenarios for potential sites, helping Chemours evaluate future viability and alignment with operational goals. Stantec also supported due diligence for new locations to enable the relocation and consolidation of research headquarters functions.
The engagement included strategic support during lease negotiations and coordination with regulatory agencies to secure approvals and maintain compliance. To inform implementation planning, we engaged construction management firms to gather insight on labor availability, capital costs, and schedules, and modeled multiple delivery strategies to support confident decisions.
Chemours ultimately selected a site in collaboration with the University of Delaware at the Science, Technology and Advanced Research Campus. The project reflects the company’s enduring commitment to Delaware and represents a $150 million investment. The completed facility includes 130 custom laboratories, supports more than 300 jobs, and stands as one of the largest research and development centers in both the state and the chemical industry.
