A college campus to meet the needs of each generation
Most campuses are designed around one purpose—a college campus for learning, a corporate campus for business, etc. Our design for this campus along the Charles River was multi-purpose, bringing seniors and children together to learn, live, and interact in a natural setting. This estate property and former polo grounds now hosts a full continuum of senior services and a K-8 school. Intertwined within the sylvan landscape, a shared exterior trail network, gardens, and open space offer users of all ages the opportunity for casual and programmed interaction.
The challenge was meeting the needs of each generation. For Hebrew SeniorLife, we created a campus that fits all lifestyles, from active seniors to those requiring assistance with the goal to provide seniors with as active a life as possible. We sited The Rashi School in a meadow area with trails through the woods connecting the playgrounds and outdoor classrooms to athletic fields that are visible from the living rooms of the least active residents. Additional facilities are located throughout the campus to provide seniors and kids with volunteer opportunities and the chance to mix for social and learning activities.
