Subiaco precinct celebrates opening of its award-winning new high school to inspire generations of students

Creating a new high density secondary school in a redevelopment zone is no simple task. Add the fact that Bob Hawke College is a key anchor project within the Subiaco East masterplan for a ‘vibrant and connected city village’ and locate it on the former sports oval at Kitchener Park and the pressure significantly increases. Appointed as part of a team with Bateman T&Z Architects, our Electrical engineers provided design, documentation and construction services for stage 1 of the project.

One of our primary activities was to ensure the site was sufficiently serviced with new infrastructure and connections to meet the school’s immediate and future power needs. Situated on a smaller-than-usual footprint for a WA school, a multi-storey approach was adopted to accommodate the anticipated pupil numbers, requiring input around lift transportation. The urban locale also warranted enhanced security and the communications and security system design restricts admittance to the various buildings via access controls.

Named after Australia’s former Prime Minister, Bob Hawke College was delivered on schedule and provides award-winning education buildings to inspire Subiaco’s community of learners.
