Encouraging education through unity and collaboration
What’s a school district to do when new students are coming in and two of their schools are overtaxed? The St. Joseph and St. Patrick schools in the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division had a problem—they had way more students than they could handle.
We completed a stage one study for the division to address enrolment numbers at the two schools. The result? Combining the two schools was the best option—a new, integrated facility that catered to the needs of the students and staff. It also turned out that the Chinook School Division was having the same troubles, so everybody got together on the project. Three schools mostly under one roof. A shared facility with discrete areas and common amenities.
The main entry, a warm, inviting piazza filled with color, light, and a sense of community, serves as a central gathering space. All Saints is split into three learning pods arranged by grade level, with wide corridors, glass doors, an explorer studio with roof terrace, and breakout spaces.
We also designed a library, band room, and a number of project zones that are shared between All Saints Catholic School and École Centennial School. This project created an integrated community learning facility, something that strengthens education all through the city of Swift Current.
