A new vibrant environmental image for the Cherry Creek North District

Changing the visual elements of a place can dramatically affect the human experience. Nationally known for its premier retail, dining, and art galleries, Cherry Creek North is a highly desirable mixed-use neighborhood located five minutes from downtown Denver. With over 350 independent businesses co-located in a 16-city-block area it is a rich, pedestrian-friendly urban community.

More than 20-years old, the district’s public realm was in need of a new environmental image. Aging infrastructure and outdated lighting and signage were not aligned with the expectations of tenants and visitors. Stantec produced a concept study that became the basis for a public improvement bond measure. The bond successfully passed and final designs for the streetscape elements—lighting, signage, and special features were developed.

Returning Fillmore Plaza, the gateway to Cherry Creek North’s shopping district, to the network of active streets resulted in a highly successful re-leasing of 100% of Fillmore’s adjacent spaces. The revitalized Cherry Creek North has transformed into a place that invites people in, creates lasting memories, and keeps them coming back.

Services for this project were completed by the employees of CommArts prior to their employment at Stantec.
