Designing a facility for emergency care and better healthcare services for the community.
When Mediclinic Abu Dhabi acquired the hospital adjoining their operating Airport Road facility, they engaged our team to design the upgrades required, from concept design to construction documentation. We provided medical planning and coordination with equipment providers alongside the required structural, mechanical, electrical, and interior design upgrades.
The major challenge for the team was designing for construction works to take place while the department remained fully operational on a 24/7 basis. The timing—at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic—meant last-minute logistical and design changes. The upgraded facility provides 19 rooms for triage, patient bays (acute and non-acute), and isolation in addition to a Pediatric emergency. The project was completed in three phases and Mediclinic succeeded in getting the Emergency Care License for the upgraded facility.
Now complete, the local community has more accessibility to emergency care and additional, improved healthcare services.
