Setting clear goals, establishing timelines, and minimizing capital expenditure
Leadership at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center (LRHMC) prompted the health system to take a fresh look at their facility planning and overall approach to executing projects. A complex task at hand, LRHMC reached out to our project management team in Tampa, Florida, to help develop a strategy for future growth.
The first major step was to assess and evaluate the current infrastructure, programs, and processes at LRHMC. We had to understand the conditions of the facility before we knew where improvement was needed. The second step was developing a comprehensive master plan, which would cost over $400 million and include over 10 major hospital enhancements.
Once the master plan was in place, our team—who had been serving as LRHMC’s program and project manager since 2011—began preparations to begin a multitude of renovation and new construction projects. Most notably, the Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children and the Bannasch Institute for Advanced Inpatient Rehabilitation.
By coordinating with hospital administration, we were able to determine feasibility and redesign their project management processes. The outcome? Setting clear goals, establishing working timelines, and minimizing capital expenditure. Since? LRHMC’s operations teams have streamlined their process with regards to management selection and the approval process.
