Creating a comforting waiting room experience with thoughtful design choices
The waiting room can be a nerve-racking, painful place where patients gather, and wait, in between their everyday lives and their next treatment. Taking the time to understand what the patient and family experience can look and feel like, our team made design decisions to create a comfortable, less intimidating atmosphere.
The Apple Hill Women's Imaging Center provides a variety of services including vascular ultrasound, general ultrasound, MRI, CT, radiation fluoroscopy, general radiology, gamma and tomography, breast MRI, gynecology/oncology, mid-life/urodynamic, and maternal fetal medicine.
The waiting room incorporates bamboo resin, giving a warmer and softer look to the privacy screening panels without causing a closed in feeling. Centrally located in the waiting area, a water feature extends beautifully from floor to ceiling creating a soothing environment. Light fixtures in the corridors introduce a combination of warm colors and light to divert the patient's mind from the tasks at hand.
Each decision was carefully made, thinking of the various patient experiences.
