Expanding healthcare treatment options for patients to receive advanced care close to home
Penn Medicine and Ballinger Architects turned to our buildings engineering team to help design a new four-story, multispecialty outpatient facility in Radnor, Pennsylvania.
We provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering along with energy modeling services to evaluate various heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Our analysis led to the selection of an active chilled beam system to serve the facility. Supported by 100 percent outside air total heat recovery air handling, the system helped the building achieve LEED Gold certification with a 22 percent energy cost savings compared to similar facilities.
The new location provides comprehensive care from 18 different practices and doubles the square footage of Penn Medicine’s existing facility, expanding options for patients to receive advanced care close to home—serving 1,500 outpatients a day in Radnor Township.
