This full-service hospital offers everything from ambulatory care and emergency to mental health and intensive care
To bring improved health and cancer care to the North Zone of Alberta, the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital will open with 11 operating rooms and 2 radiation vaults. Stantec was engaged to provide commissioning services to validate that the building systems were operating at an optimal level prior to completion.
We provided fundamental and enhanced commissioning services to document that the mechanical, electrical, and building envelope systems were meeting the design intent. Mechanical systems commissioned included 27 custom air handling units complete with heat wheels and fan-wall arrangements, firetube heating boilers with condensing economizers, magnetic bearing chillers, and high-cycle cooling towers. The electrical systems commissioned included three emergency generators, high-efficiency lighting fixtures, programmable low voltage lighting control, security, health technology, and electronic metering for the power distribution systems.
The project is seeking LEED Silver Certification and was designed with a focus on the USGBC LEED for Healthcare Standards. When it opens, this full-service hospital will support the Alberta North region’s growing population.
