Reconciling the diagonal tension between Denver’s central business district and the Civic Center Park
The City and County of Denver, Colorado desired to consolidate its government operations. The district attorney’s office, the planning and zoning committee, the parks and recreation team—the City had many departments in several locations. Our job? Help them design a brand-new office space to consolidate its task force in one convenient location—the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building.
In collaboration with DOTA and Hensel Phelps Construction Company, we were selected to develop the landmark complex. The team’s design responds to the constraints of the site, particularly the diagonal tension between Denver’s central business district and the Civic Center Park. Encompassing over 640,000-square-feet of new offices, the complex also accommodates 600 vehicles on three levels of underground parking levels. In addition, the project included the renovation of an existing building which was incorporated into the final design.
The Wellington E. Webb Municipal Building consolidates many City and County of Denver office functions while offering convenience, accessibility, and sustainability.
