Anbang Youth Social Housing

The Anbang Youth Social Housing in the Zhonghe District of New Taipei City, Taiwan, is a policy development in response to the housing price problem in the metropolitan area. In order to achieve equitable residence costs and to protect the rights of this vulnerable group, the municipal government adopted a social rented housing method from Europe. This method introduces homes that are not for selling but for non-profit renting only, to diversify the community and release the pressure of high housing costs.

Approximately 630 housing units will be built in the project. In order to build the social housing with high quality and high standards, we took long-term management requirements into account and designed flexibly in regard to engineering costs, households mixtures, and the maximum utilization of site characteristics. In addition, green building design and universal design will be integrated to provide a sustainable, friendly public space, aiming to demonstrate a community of healthy and comfortable social youth housing.

We conducted preliminary feasibility assessment, planning, design, and construction management. With this method and these homes in place, youths in New Taipei City have the opportunity for an affordable renting price and a modern, sustainable place to live—with quick and easy access to everywhere in Taipei Metro Area.
