Providing an interior design to facilitate function and reinforce branding in Chicago
The Rookery Building is a historic landmark in downtown Chicago’s financial district. Built in 1888, the building was renovated by Frank Lloyd Wright and has been the home to many commercial businesses and office spaces throughout the years. Our client called us because of our experience in the community, with banking, and on historic renovation projects.
We adapted the prototype design elements to a historic L shaped space and worked with the client and project management team to keep the bank branch in operation during the phased construction. The project also included creating a new entry to the Frank Lloyd Wright designed inner courtyard, and converting an existing entry back to match the historic Burnham and Root designed bay windows along LaSalle Street.
We provided architecture, interior design, entitlements, chicago landmarks approvals, permitting, and construction observation. We were able to expedite the permit process for the client by initiating Chicago landmarks review and permitting early in the project lifecycle resulting receipt of permit ahead of schedule.
