We designed a new place to stay, play, and dine in Midtown Detroit
Every AC Hotel around the globe is designed purposefully, to create a thoughtfully crafted experience for each of its guests and the surrounding community. The new, 11-story AC Detroit Hotel at the Bonstelle is no different—designed to bring an upscale twist to nightlife in Midtown Detroit.
Working in tandem with Patrick Thompson Design, our team was selected by the Roxbury Group to design a hotel that is sympathetic to the historic context of the 115-year-old theatre while providing a modern place to eat, stay, and play. Sitting between the hotel and theater is a glass covered conservatory, housing a full-service restaurant for guests. The conservatory will also serve as much-needed event space for the hotel, theater, and Detroiters alike. We incorporated additional dining in the design through a roof-top bar, where hotel guests and theatergoers can look down to the bustling sidewalks of Woodward Avenue while enjoying a pre-show cocktail.
As the brand’s first hotel in Southeast Michigan, the AC Detroit at the Bonstelle provides much needed hotel-space to Detroit’s busy entertainment district, home to venues such as Little Caesars Arena, Comerica Park, Ford Field and the Fox Theater.
