Creating a bright, modern hotel
A gateway to Seaport Square, Envoy Hotel welcomes those crossing into Fort Point Channel from Boston’s Financial District. Located on a constrained site in the developing mixed-use neighborhood, the 136-key hotel features a ground floor restaurant and a roof top bar with views of the city skyline.
Envoy’s cabins are petite but feel expansive courtesy of glass curtainwall facades. The light and airy upper volume is detailed in shiplap wood in homage to sailing vessels, a gesture that also introduces warmth and texture to the modern volume. Rooms are designed to face the water while maintaining an urban view, creating a comfortable place for guests to relax and take in the carefully considered design features of the room.
In anticipation of rising water levels due to storm surges or climate change, critical mechanical equipment was located on the ground floor, which is above the 100-year flood level, rather than the basement. Our team served as architect of record for core and shell with Group One as Design Architects.
