Downtown elegance is infused throughout Residence Inn's flagship urban property
The Residence Inn by Marriott is notably the first brand of extended-stay hotels available in the United States. The brand concept was to offer comfortable suites for guests staying more than a couple of nights. From comfortable furniture to kitchenettes, the Residence Inn brand exceeds hotel room expectations by providing the space, services, and amenities that guests experience in their own homes.
Marriott, along with development partners Prime Group, decided to develop a new boutique-style location in downtown Chicago. We provided architectural and interior design services for the urban flagship. With 380 rooms, including one- and two-bedroom suites as well as studios, the completed property was the largest Residence Inn in the world at the time. Our design team responded to the existing site by converting the vintage Roanoke building, formerly an office, into a suitable space for a hotel. Marriott was determined to offer a superior experience and elevated design at select-service price points that would appeal to business and leisure travelers alike.
The renovations integrate the building’s architectural legacy by retaining original features in the revitalized property. Timeless materials and luxurious amenities created a new hospitality experience. The result? A home away from home.
