Expanding a road means working above ground and below it
The City of Moorhead is growing. Existing traffic pressure combined with projected development within the city’s south side pointed clearly to the need for expanded roadway capacity. The TH 75 expansion was the key to getting traffic moving smoothly and safely. The project, led by the City of Moorhead and the Minnesota Department of Transportation, called for the reconstruction and expansion of a half mile segment of TH 75 from an existing two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway.
Our job was preliminary design and final design—addressing challenges above and below ground. In addition to expanding the roadway, our transportation engineers developed a storm drainage system completely within the existing right of way (to maintain a tight construction schedule). The team also provided a design for relocating several utilities and protecting existing gas pipelines within the project corridor.
Now complete, these improvements enhance this important transportation corridor, providing a safer and more reliable roadway. Invested in the community’s future, we continued our involvement as we helped the city develop the Growth Area Plan for its growing neighborhoods and businesses.
