When Northwestern Memorial Healthcare sought to enhance and promote their patients-first mission and philosophy, we collaborated to design a new, women-focused hospital in Chicago. Their goal? Best-in-class research and patient care spaces to complement a state-of-the-art teaching facility—a hospital that would attract renowned physicians and specialists to deliver the best care for patients.
Prentice Women’s Hospital provides the full continuum of care for women. Our contribution? The project team planned and designed a breast health center, perioperative services, birthing areas, neonatal intensive care, cancer services, a dedicated women’s health and education center, and full-service retail amenities. The Prentice Women’s Hospital was the first LEED-NC-Silver certified inpatient hospital in Illinois, and it’s the largest of its kind in the country.
The 18-story, one-million-square-foot hospital accommodates 13,600 annual births and provides cutting-edge, women-specific healthcare to treat the most complex issues, demonstrating nationally-benchmarked excellence in patient services and clinical outcomes.
