Elevating emergency operations with a bold space where innovation meets resiliency
To better serve their community, the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) needed a new home for their emergency operations center, central communications, and transit police. They reached out to our architects and buildings engineers to help.
Our design prioritizes OCTA's operational needs, emphasizing efficiency, functionality, and communication. The facility will provide redundant systems, enhanced structural performance, and a backup generator to support resilience during emergencies. Sustainability also played a key role in our design and led to the inclusion of features such as underfloor air distribution, an all-electric building, photovoltaic systems, and electric vehicle charging stations. Another major consideration centered around adding security features to establish controlled access to the building and separate parking for each department. Other design elements include a double-height video wall, shared interior amenity spaces, and roof-mounted communication systems.
When complete, OCTA’s new Transit Security and Operations Center (TSOC) will provide employees and the community with safe and reliable services.
