Developing recommendations for a sustainable, system-wide benefit
We provided a detailed roadmap for converting the existing fleet of Elk Grove’s transit system (e-tran) to a fully zero emission fleet. The city has an existing plan to use Low Carbon Transit Operation Program (LCTOP) funds to develop electric charging infrastructure at the city’s Corporation Yard for a future electric bus fleet. This Zero Emission Bus Transition Plan expands on that initial planning effort using LCTOP funds to construct the required infrastructure at the Corporation Yard.
Our plan includes a high-level analysis of zero-emission bus (ZEB) technology and an analysis of the existing fleet. We provided recommendations for the procurements, capital improvements, and infrastructure and maintenance planning required to replace the existing fleet with ZEBs—as well as coordinated with future on-site renewable energy generation and energy storage needs. With a goal to produce a sustainable system-wide benefit, our plan’s findings and recommendations impact both local and commuter service routes, laying the groundwork for providing ZEB service to all e-tran routes.
With our services and ultimate rollout plan completed, the City can create a more efficient implementation and development of a ZEB fleet.
