Focusing on parks and recreational services as catalysts for a healthier, stronger, and more economically vibrant community
As Seguin continues to grow and thrive, the City of Seguin's commitment to meet and exceed the local community's needs remains a top priority. With extensive public parkland, the City wanted to develop a comprehensive parks and recreation services master plan that prioritized the community's greatest needs and allowed the City to plan holistically for the future. The vision? Interconnected trails that linked parks and neighborhoods to enhance the community's quality of life and thriving recreational spaces accessed by walking, biking, or transit.
For almost nine months, we worked side-by-side with the City on a project where community input was vital to developing a plan that would serve the City for years to come. Overwhelming participation in public events made it clear that the local community recognized the immense value provided by parks and recreational services.
We grouped the community's top priorities into five categories including land acquisition for new parks and facilities, improvements to existing parks and recreational facilities, expansion of recreation programming, development of a recreational center with indoor/outdoor aquatics, and development of additional trail and trail connections. We also presented ways for the City to find potential funding opportunities for each project.
The proposed plan was unanimously approved and adopted by the City Council in March 2020. Now, the City of Seguin has a new road map that will guide the expansion and advancement of their parks system.
