A mixed-use path to bring communities together and help residents enjoy the fresh outdoors
When people slow down and take time to walk from point a to point b, it does more than help with their health. It sets them up to meet their neighbors and connect with their community. Pittsfield Township has been planning a number of pedestrian trails for a few years, and the Lohr Road Greenway is part of that overall network.
We started out with the topographic survey then completed the detailed design. Included were wetland mitigation, bioswales, benches, bike bollards, and township signage. Once the project was underway, we also handled construction administration.
The result? A 2.4 mile (3.9 kilometre) section of path that connects the Saline Recreation Center to the City of Ann Arbor and numerous neighborhoods along Textile Road and Lohr Road. The asphalt path is 10 feet wide with 2-foot gravel shoulders on each side.
This mixed-use path brings more communities together and helps residents enjoy the fresh air and outside world.
