Gradually changing the city’s outlook from grey communist-era buildings to modern, sustainable structures
Located on a brownfield site, the Twin City Sever development is a landmark project. Stretching over 300,000 square metres, it includes offices, a new bus station, and a shopping mall—the facility directly contributes to economic growth by creating jobs and improving transportation links. This major regeneration scheme is being designed using building information modeling (BIM) and is the first project of its scale in Slovakia.
We were appointed to provide design of all mechanical and electrical systems from the early stages of the project through to construction, including an underground bus station, a 260,000 square metre shopping area, and a 130 metre-high office tower. Our work concentrates on efficient design of the building technologies that will not only complement the architectural design, but also facilitate ease of use. Our design uses sustainable energy sources such as solar and groundwater as well as the best modern systems, including induction units and adiabatic chillers.
The new development replaces the old bus station and a surrounding area which has been considered an eye sore by many locals for many years. Not only it will improve the urban environment, it will become a new hub for people to meet, work, leave for a trip or a holiday or just do their shopping.
