A premiere feature mall that integrates local culture and history
When Ivanhoe Cambridge set their sights on the ultimate shopping experience in British Columbia, they conceived their hybrid concept mall: Tsawwassen Mills. To bring this concept to life, they built a multidisciplinary team with Stantec on architecture and interior design.
Offering a unique blend of premium fashion brands, factory outlets, first-to-marketing retailers, restaurants, coffee shops, and an 1,100-seat food court, Tsawwassen Mills is one of the biggest shopping centers to be built in Canada since 2009. Developed on the Tsawwassen First Nations land in Delta, British Columbia, the mall includes indoor and outdoor sculptures, artistic ceiling displays, and West Coast heavy timber that lifts the roof to 52 feet (15.8 metres) at its highest point.
Celebrating local culture and history, Tsawwassen Mills integrates inspiration from the Pacific Northwest seascapes and the Coast Salish Indigenous peoples into the mall’s interior design themes and features. When it opened to the public on October 5th, 2016, Tsawwassen Mills attracted over 280,000 visitors in its first week.
