Nearly two decades of diversified project contributions
Our work to revitalize the Port Lands, an active port with many heritage resources and natural areas, will help create meaningful economic growth, reduce urban sprawl, and contribute to Toronto’s character and vitality.
Born from the early 20th-century infill of Ashbridges Bay, the Toronto Port Lands stand as a symbol of urban possibility. This 356-hectare (880-acre) underutilized contaminated brownfield site is adjacent to Toronto’s vibrant downtown core—prime real estate if treated correctly.
A portfolio of projects
For almost two decades, our teams have supported projects in and around the Port Lands, including working on 13 land parcels on behalf of CreateTO (the City of Toronto’s real estate agency). Our key Port Lands and waterfront projects, with a variety of partners, include
- Port Lands Sitewide Servicing Plan
- McCleary District Precinct Plan
- Villiers Island Surface Parking Facilities
- Port Lands Flood Protection and Enabling Infrastructure Plan Implementation
- Waterfront East LRT Extension
- Alphabet’s Sidewalk Labs Initiative
- The Quayside Revitalization
- Waterfront Innovation Centre
- Daphne Cockwell Centre for Health Sciences
- Limberlost Place
Partners and clients include the Toronto Economic Development Corporation, Waterfront Toronto, the Toronto Parking Authority, the Toronto Transit Commission, PUBLIC WORK, MVVA Landscape Architects, George Brown College, Menkes Developments, and CreateTO.
Revitalization in every corner
Our site wide servicing plan established the current state and location of utilities and services across the precinct and identified where upgrades would be needed to support growth, population projections, and proposed site developments. Our brownfield studies on a former oil terminal site paved the way for Pinewood Toronto Studios, which hosts major feature films shot in Canada. And when it comes to supporting future development, we’ve worked on flood protection to manage the active threat of flooding from the Don River, and we’ve contributed to other Toronto projects which will elevate the Port Lands—like LRT extensions.
The future of Toronto’s port districts
From environmental work to transit-oriented and mixed-use development, we continue to champion the revitalization of this pivotal area, helping the Port Lands continue as a vital part of Toronto's future.
