James is co-leader of Boston’s residential business unit, where he spearheads many of the firm’s large, high-profile, mixed-use projects. He brings a passion for cities to his practice of urban architecture and is a strong advocate for transit-oriented design and bike/pedestrian friendly streets. His particular expertise is in synthesizing clients’ design vision, a keen understanding of todays residential and commercial market forces, and a thorough knowledge of today’s dynamic construction industry into outstanding examples of multi-family housing and commercial projects that deliver returns on clients’ expectations and investments.
James played a leading role in projects that have reshaped Boston’s emerging Seaport District including 315 on A Street, Pier 4, Watermark Seaport, and One Channel Center, which represent more than 900 new residential units, more than 40,000 square feet of new retail space, and more than 500,000 square feet of new office space. Elsewhere in Boston and throughout the region, James has led design teams to deliver more than 3,150 units of additional housing and more than 1 million square feet of commercial space.
