With dozens of interconnected projects on the go, a digital engineering framework brings order to chaos
Growth and opportunity depend on a variety of supports, including vital infrastructure like transport. New South Wales has embarked on its largest ever transport infrastructure program with an $72.2 billion investment over four years. Our role includes assisting Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) with the review and coordination of design models (provided by other consultants) and the relevant metadata that complies to the TfNSW digital engineering (DE) framework. We are also a member of the Comprehensive Technical Services Panel established to facilitate the delivery of multidisciplinary services on significant and complex road infrastructure projects.
With diverse projects like the Sydney Metro, light rail, motorways, and road upgrades—and dozens of contractors involved—coordinating data is critical for effective management of the thousands of moving pieces. The DE framework connects emerging technologies with reliable structured data, enabling more productive methods of project delivery. We will also assist with DE framework review, host design coordination workshops using the tools defined by TfNSW and contractors, host training and lessons-learned workshops, and assist contractors with the adoption and implementation of the framework.
Having everyone on the same page and speaking the same language is critical for managing projects that will shape economic growth and opportunity in New South Wales. The DE framework presents a valuable tool for current and future projects.
