Endeavour - New Office Building Sustainability Consulting
Funded and developed through a joint venture agreement between Scarborough Group International and Metro Holdings of Singapore, Endeavour is the final phase of the Sheffield Digital Campus. The 64,995-square-foot (6,038-square-metre) business space marks the completion of 15-plus years of development. Scarborough Group International wanted the building to stand out in another way. They wanted it to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating and reached out to our team to help.
Our smart energy and sustainability specialists outlined the steps Endeavour’s design team needed to take to reach the desired rating. Located near public transportat links and amenities, the development aims to promote sustainable travel with a travel plan and by providing cyclist facilities. We provided guidance around the optimal number of cyclist storage spaces, location, and type that would best promote sustainable transport choices. This led to the project garnering 100 percent of BREEAM credits under Transport criteria.
We also advised on how to reduce the building’s overall water consumption use, specifying low flow sanitaryware. Solutions include a water leak detection system so users will be alerted if there’s a major leak from the mains water supply. Additionally, sanitary flow control devices have been incorporated, which shut off the water supply to toilet areas when not in-use, preventing undetected leaks from occurring while people aren’t in the building.
Today, the BREEAM Excellent rated Endeavour offers premium workspace with eight highly efficient and flexible floorplates of ground floor amenity space, club-class changing and shower facilities to promote active travel, and a rooftop terrace offering panoramic views of the Steel City skyline.
