Taking steps towards a greener future
Using renewable energy (RE) sources—like solar, wind, hydro, geothermal and other naturally replenishing energy sources—is essential to fight climate change, improve air quality, and create energy security. We help clients like the European Commission, World Bank, and African Development Bank assess RE options and develop policies and regulatory and institutional environments. We also build local capacity, and plan, design, and finance RE investments.Unlocking the potential of green hydrogen
The European Union has set binding targets for the uptake of renewable hydrogen by 2030, using it to reduce GHG emissions in hard-to-electrify sectors and for long-term renewable energy storage. We help them and other clients with strong RE potential in developing their green hydrogen strategy, assessing technical, economic and environmental feasibility of investment projects, creating governance and regulatory frameworks and building capacities needed for their successful implementation.Connecting grids, storage, and markets for cleaner power
Transmission and distribution networks, energy storage, and well-functioning electricity markets are essential for reliable, affordable power supply via renewable energy. We support governments in planning transmission lines that enable cost-effective electricity trade, as well as in designing and financing grid reinforcement, load management, and storage solutions. We also help regulators develop market rules, grid codes, and tariff frameworks, and support market operators in setting up efficient electricity trading platforms.Strategic energy planning for equitable and sustainable outcomes
When it comes to creating reliable and sustainable energy systems, efficiency, access, and planning are key. They lower demand, investment needs, and dependence, while reducing emissions and improving competitiveness and grid stability. We support efficiency strategies, audits, and standards across sectors. We also help governments advance energy transitions by expanding access to on- and off-grid power, clean cooking, and affordable services, supported by energy system modeling, demand forecasting, and energy information systems.
