Designing a workplace that exemplifies a client’s values

A world leader in titanium technologies and chemical solutions, the Chemours Company wanted to transform their workplace into a collaborative vertical campus reflective of their global brand, while celebrating the DuPont Building’s historic architecture. They engaged us to design a space that embodied their values of simplicity, transparency, and integrity in a building defined by modest elegance.

To rejuvenate the dated workplace, we focused on maximizing access to natural daylight and the use of bright, simple colors balanced with an efficient planning strategy. We celebrated the historic architectural details while emphasizing Chemours’ global brand experience. We also introduced multiple centrally located decorative staircases, supported by flexible collaboration zones, to connect colleagues across floors. To help keep the design in line with Chemours’ values, visions, and desire for the space, we conducted an intensive, data-based engagement process with staff and senior leaders. This included in-depth surveys, participative workshops, and studies of work styles and space utilization.

The refreshed space provides a welcoming, engaging, and productive space for 800 employees across 10 floors.
