Advancing plans, studies, projects, and oversight consistent with USD$2 billion in multi-modal transportation projects
Residents of San Mateo County have demonstrated a willingness to invest in transportation infrastructure that will improve mobility and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (SMCTA) will deliver more than USD$2 billion in multi-modal projects promised to voters through two sales tax measures.
Stantec was awarded a 5-year contract to assist the SMCTA with a variety of services to advance plans, studies, projects, and associated oversight consistent with the tax measures. Acting as an extension of SMCTA staff, we are currently supporting the development of the US 101 Peninsula Avenue Interchange Project. We also helped develop program guidelines, application templates, presentation materials, and evaluation/scoring criteria for SMCTA’s 2020 Pedestrian and Bicycle Call for Projects. This included working with our consultant partners to develop a GIS-based modeling tool that could identify proximity of projects to activity centers, transit hubs, and employment locations.
Altogether, our work on this contract will be used to target key congested corridors for improvement, enhance regional connections, and make the San Mateo Country transportation system safer—all by leveraging local, state, and federal funds.
