Invigorating the downtown core and providing crucial connections to the adjacent neighborhoods
The downtown core in Pleasanton, Texas wasn't keeping up with the growing city. Adjacent neighborhoods were not connected, and the City was looking for a way to make it easier for residents to access and enjoy an updated downtown area. We were there to help.
We are developing a master plan that reflects a change in focus from the economic role of downtown towards one which emphasizes gathering places for people to live interact, connect, and have fun. Our team generated significant public participation during the planning process through multiple methods including workshops, interviews, and community engagement surveys. The main recommendations for visioning Pleasanton’s downtown included supporting infill development on Main Street, fostering specialty commercial businesses in the downtown core, improving the main street and downtown streetscape, and retaining downtown’s historic building character. The primary focus was on sidewalks and trails for bicycles and pedestrians—facilitating transportation choices by providing an interconnected, multi-modal network.
Upon completion, Pleasanton residents will enjoy a more inter-connected city with updated amenities and public spaces to enhance life for a growing population and roster of businesses.
