Transforming 50 acres of existing park into an outdoor enthusiast's dream
The City of Oxnard, California, asked us to help transform 50 acres of existing park and open fields into an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. The new park will serve as a gathering hub for events such as The Cinco De Mayo and Strawberry festivals.
We designed a 40-foot-wide perimeter road, four restroom buildings, and five parking lots. A dog park complete with wash stations and agility course, BBQ areas with covered shelters, basketball courts, volleyball courts, five well-lit competition level soccer fields, and a concession stand make this an amazing community space.
More than a mile of trails meander throughout the park leading visitors through the tot-lot and multiple sports fields, and over a pedestrian bridge crossing the preserved 2.5 acre wetland.
From inception through construction, we provided preliminary assessments, survey, site and utility design, storm water mitigation, and park planning including grantsmanship assistance on four separate grants totaling more than $6 million.
