Award-winning lane improvement project gives Reno residents a solution to rush hour traffic
As we came close to the end of a decade-long transportation improvement project, one last challenge stood in the way. Based on our previous corridor and alignment studies, Moana Lane was too narrow.
Expanding Moana Lane from four to six lanes between S. Virginia Street to I-580 involved strategic coordination and engineering to ensure local businesses weren’t impacted by construction. The project presented challenges such as relocation of underground utilities; partial or total acquisition of 19 properties; maintaining construction access to 31 properties; and reconfiguration of parking lots, access points, signage, and landscaping for all other affected properties.
We addressed these challenges and delivered the project six weeks ahead of schedule by providing a range of services including surveying, traffic operations studies, preliminary and final design, definition of right-of-way needs, utility relocations, and landscape architecture. The expansion of Moana Lane paved the way for residents to get home and to work safely and more efficiently.
