Designing an educational facility to prepare students for that tough transition to college
Medical school is tough, and it’s competitive to get into. So for the kids who know they want a future in a medical field, how can they best prepare themselves? In early 2014, Harlingen Consolidated Independent School Board realized that they wanted new high school programs that supported college and career readiness.
Enter Harlingen School of Health Professions—a high school that’ll prepare students for medical professions by providing a hands-on curriculum. There are six schools of study: dental science, patient care, surgical procedures, pharmacology/biomedical technology, medical science, and sports medicine.
Eventually, this school will draw students from all over South Texas. Students in grades 7-12 who are interested in health professions. With its collegiate environment, complete labs, brilliant academic spaces, and other amenities, Harlingen School of Health Professions is going to serve as a magnet for students who want to get a jump start on their medical career.
