Fayetteville’s mobility plans impact the community’s vitality and health
The City of Fayetteville was awarded a grant from the North Carolina Deparment of Transportation (NCDOT) to complete a pedestrian study. The overall goal of the study was to develop a plan that would identify where better connectivity could be achieved through a defined network of sidewalks and/or trails. Improving the mobility for pedestrians will increase safety, ensure sustainability, and positively impact the vitality and health of the community.
The City of Fayetteville and our planners, designers, and project managers made every effort to have maximum participation in public outreach. Public outreach techniques and an advisory committee ensured maximum involvement and tailoring for project development.
The result? We provided an implementation plan to Fayetteville that utilized best practices to identify recommendations that were practical, feasible, and complied with both state and federal requirements. Recommendations will be developed based on the reults of existing conditions analysis, pubic input, and previous plan reviews. In the end, the City will have a well-defined set of recommendations including infrastrucure and ordinace base, for a complete pedestrian system.
