Confidential Biopharmaceutical Company - Phase IV

A stunning new home for collaborative discovery

  • Redwood City, California

    Redwood City, California

A space that fosters collaboration and celebrates groundbreaking work

To enhance their ability to provide breakthrough research, a global biopharmaceutical company (and our longstanding client), once again called upon our team to design a building that would help deliver the next generation of advancements.

The new building houses a state-of-the-art research facility with research and material flows, security controls, collaboration spaces, and advanced safety considerations. Building upon our prior work on the campus (where we introduced a sophisticated, natural palate and an open work environment), the design features large, inviting co-working space and labs and workspaces that are flooded with natural light. Traditionally separated, the labs here are directly adjacent to the office space to encourage constant collaboration. A dramatic auditorium with a beautiful custom ceiling provides a home for everyone on the campus.

Knowing people drive ideas, we developed a unique way to help our client celebrate their employees’ accomplishments through an innovation wall in the central gathering space. From afar, it’s an abstract, visually-compelling design, but up close it reveals that the design is in fact the structure of the drugs developed by the very scientists working at this site. Now complete, this modern facility sets the stage for groundbreaking research and advancement.
