A center for high-tech labs and cutting-edge research equipment
Bucknell University had a vision to create a quad that would bring together the sciences and the arts. The Academic East building serves as the final piece to the new quad, also planned by our Stantec team.
Designed to allow faculty to pursue research projects while also increasing opportunities for undergraduates to work alongside professors, the building includes space dedicated to independent research for a full range of engineering disciplines, as well as design studios exclusively for senior design projects. It also has rooftop gardens and green roof areas dedicated to the study of water purity and environmental design principles
Bringing Department of Education programs closer to the social science departments housed in Academic West, the project supports existing and future education-engineering collaborations. With a human health and well-being focus, the building uses exemplary sustainable design strategies as well as common meeting areas, support zones, and research laboratories to further the goals of their Human Health Initiative.
