Enhancing traffic flow and safety along a crucial connection to NM 18
The City of Hobbs wanted to realign College Lane to create a four-way intersection with New Mexico State Highway 18 (NM 18) and Business Park Boulevard, which leads into an industrial area. They also wanted to improve overall safety along College Lane, particularly because it provides access to an elementary school. The City reached out to our team to help.
Our team needed to assess current conditions and determine the feasibility of the proposed intersection with Business Park Boulevard and NM 18. We examined intersection layouts, drainage systems, and pavement designs. Additionally, we investigated utility upgrades, signalization needs, railroad requirements, right-of-way considerations, construction costs, and phasing plans.
Currently, the project is in the preliminary design phase. We’re working with the City and Lea County to develop the design for the project corridor and complete right-of-way mapping. Additionally, we’re assign the City with property acquisition to achieve the proposed project scope. When complete, the project will create a safer and more efficient roadway for the community
