A roadway extension including three roundabouts, a new bridge, and pedestrian pathways
The City of Hilliard’s vision for the Britton Centre development is a vibrant blend of office, commercial, housing, schools, parklands and a town centre on one site. BMW Financial Services was slated to locate its new headquarters as the cornerstone of this economic development initiative, provided new roads and utilities to serve the site were in place, which Stantec delivered.
The roadway extension included the design of three roundabouts. Roundabouts were selected based on improved operational performance, lower capital and life cycle costs, the ability to provide access to future developments, and aesthetics. The Cosgray-Britton Connector and Hayden Run Road are two lane roundabouts, and relocated Hayden Run Road is a three lane roundabout.
The four lane divided roadway included a parallel shared use path, sidewalk, and a path connection under the Hayden Run Bridge. This path connection will be extended with the development of a linear park along Hayden Run. Roadway pavement has sufficient width to be restriped with arrows in the future.
Additional project elements include a bridge spanning Hayden Run River, water and sewer lines, and extensive archaeological investigations.
