Working collaboratively to deliver new dwellings
Acting on behalf of Bloor Homes, we worked collaboratively with Wigan Council to secure planning application permission to deliver up to 300 dwellings in the historic village of Standish, Wigan. We initially appeared at the Examination of the Core Strategy and convinced the appointed planning inspector that there was a need to identify further housing within the community.
The planning application, which was supported by an Environmental Statement in accordance with the EIA regulations, was approved by Wigan Council in June 2014. In 2017, Bloor Homes instructed our team to amend the approved scheme to bring the overall number of dwellings at the site to 351 units, in order to reflect changes in local market demand. A series of planning applications were submitted in support of the amended scheme to enable Bloor Homes to commence construction of an initial phase of development, whilst planning permission for a net increase in dwellings was secured. As part of this next phase of the project, we submitted a non-material amendment application, a reserved matters application as well as a full planning application for 351 homes at the site, which was supported by an Environment Statement.
The various applications were all approved, and the scheme is currently under construction.
