Providing assessment plan development, implementation, and governmental registration services for the client

The target site—which is a manufacturing facility in the wind power business with an annual chemical consumption of over 2,000 metric tons—occupies approximately 160,000 square metres. When our client needed to conduct a government-required, comprehensive environmental site assessment (ESA) for the target site, our team was brought in to evaluate the nature of the target site.

First, a Phase I ESA was conducted to identify known/suspected environmental issues associated with the current and historical operations at the target site. Then, a Phase II ESA was conducted to document soil and groundwater conditions. Given elevated concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in some soil samples, we also performed a site-specific human health risk assessment (HHRA). The results? Human health risk levels due to the elevated PAHs fell within health and safety guidelines.

The combined site investigation and assessment were conducted in accordance with both international and local technical specifications and were recognized by the local government. Now, thanks to the results of the assessments, the target site is exempt from potentially costly and time-consuming remediations.
