Helping TRU provide the community with superior healthcare

The Chappell Family Building for Nursing and Population Health (NPH) will attract and retain faculty, staff, and students to the campus. How? By creating the opportunity for Thompson Rivers University (TRU) to expand their efforts in the region, educate more students, and provide the community with better care.

Located on of the most sustainable campuses in Canada, the new NPH building had a mandate to meet TRU’s LEED® Gold standard. The campus is moving towards a lower greenhouse gas emissions target and the new building was well-sited to take advantage of passive solar gains with solar panels on the roof. Reflecting the importance of First Nations and aboriginal community engagement, our process engaged the TRU Aboriginal Education Group throughout the project. To top it off, TRU and the School of Nursing worked closely with our team to create a learning environment that replicates various hospital environments and laboratories to deliver high-quality healthcare training.

Since its completion, TRU has the capacity to improve access for students, improve transition into the labor market, enrich research opportunity, and simulate the full spectrum of health-care environments.
