Providing comprehensive technical advisory, civil, and environmental services
A growing and busy city, Toronto is facing increased traffic congestion, and its transit system was struggling to keep up with ridership. Looking to alleviate some of this pressure, Metrolinx engaged our One Team for help.
Extending from Exhibition Place in the southwest, through downtown, and connecting to the Eglinton Crosstown LRT in Flemingdon Park in the city’s northeast, the Ontario Line will provide an end-to-end journey time of 30 minutes or less. It will span nearly 16 kilometers (10 miles) and add 15 new stations across Toronto.
To help implement this project, we’re providing technical advisory and professional services including public utility relocation, site plan development, road design and grading, constructability design, and the development of project specific output specifications. We’re also providing reference concept design, a design criteria manual, and completing the environmental assessment. Over half the route is planned to run underground through new tunnels, with the rest running along elevated and at-grade rail corridor sections of track.
Working collaboratively with HDR, Metrolinx, and its partners, we prioritized critical civil and environmental objectives while balancing strategic project goals, cohesively advancing this project within a complicated contractual framework and interdependent project schedule. When complete, Toronto will be able to better serve residents with cleaner air, reduced congestion, and less pressure on the transit system.
