Engineering a variety of design remedies to update transit stations for a New Jersey community
The stations located along the Raritan Valley and North Jersey Coast Lines had many issues in common with one another: they were historic stations with outdated amenities and a lack of barrier free access from parking lots and stations to the trains. Our team designed a variety of remedies to update transit stations and bring them into compliance including new or rehabilitated station buildings, some of which were historic, new pedestrian tunnels, new and realigned track, grade crossing eliminations and new grade crossings, modified pedestrian bridges, new elevators, new canopies, site work modifications, parking lot modifications, lighting and landscaping, new tactile warning strips at platform edges, and retractable high level platform edges.
A crucial component of the project for the stations located in Westfield, Fanwood, Netherwood, Perth Amboy, South Amboy, Hazlet, Matawan, Middleton, Little Silver, Red Bank, Elberon, and Bradley Beach was our ability to support our client over a protracted period of time and complete the renovations as funding became available.
