Boosting international trade and travel in southern New Brunswick

Stantec provided engineering design, construction support and field quality control services for the 240 kilometer twinned highway from St. Stephen to River Glade, New Brunswick. The project included design and construction of the final 55 kilometer of four lanes, the erection of 104 kilometer of wildlife fencing, major river crossing upgrades, and the installation of new guardrail systems on a number of bridges and overpasses along the Route 1 corridor.

The field quality control services included the testing and inspection of aggregates, laboratory mix designs, and stripping teats, as well as equipping two portable laboratories on-site for a two year period. Stantec personnel carried out continuous sampling, Superpave testing and field compaction control throughout the project. Stantec also provided quality control concrete testing services for the concrete supplied to 40 bridge construction and rehabilitation projects on the highway.
