Streamlining a Central Business District to improve traffic flow and community access and amenity
Residents, commuters, and visitors travelling through Terrigal Central Business District (CBD) are enjoying significantly reduced peak hour travel times following a $2.2 million Central Coast Council investment.
We were engaged by Central Coast Council as part of the teams redesigning the Terrigal CBD to improve traffic flow and pedestrian access, and the results have been significant. Queue lengths and travel times have been significantly reduced during peak times, and the community feedback has been positive.
Our role was predominately in the design stage of the project in response to the re-worked traffic management. This role involved designing new pedestrian crossing and signals, new traffic control signals, new traffic management protocols including closing off some turning opportunities, traffic signage, a new roundabout, modified curbs, and new road pavement. The project was one of ten local projects made possible through the Stronger Communities Fund, established by the NSW Government to provide funding for projects that improve community infrastructure and services.
