Revisioning the century-old Hamilton wharves for future growth

Only six kilometres (4 miles) from the Brisbane CBD, Northshore is a large-scale development of the Hamilton wharves that have been in service for over 100 years. This major urban renewal project will convert the former industrial site to a master planned community—a mixed-use development with residential and industrial areas and the Brisbane 2032 Olympics Athletes Village.

Partnering with Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) we created a master plan for the entire site, from the mixed-use development to the Athletes Village. Our key deliverable was a transportation master plan for the precinct which included roadway design documentation, design of bulk earthworks for future road corridors, and planning of a stormwater drainage system. Alongside the planning works, we’ve been working with EDQ to review and manage improvements to the existing site—looking at car parking, pedestrian access and pathways, wayfinding, and signage strategies. We’re also advising on staging and delivery of infrastructure projects, while reducing impacts on existing tenants and operations.

When this significant renewal project in complete, the master plan will create a community that will be in place long after the 2032 Olympics are a happy memory.
