A master plan for all users to help guide future planning and development along a busy corridor
Moreton Bay is one of Queensland’s fastest growing local government areas. Traffic congestion has been identified as a priority concern in the face of the region’s rapid population growth. In response, Moreton Bay Regional Council set out to deliver a series of major improvements to the Caboolture River Road east-west transportation corridor. They engaged us as part of the team to provide transportation advisory and planning services to help develop a master plan.
We applied a movement and place philosophy. This creates a framework that focuses on community needs and identifies gaps in the traditional planning approach to promote and connect all user requirements. The plan also incorporates illustrative design ideas to clearly guide corridor upgrades and demonstrate how they may serve community into the future.
Taking into consideration competing user needs and the complexity of the corridor, the Caboolture River Road Master Plan features connected active travel infrastructure, well-spaced bus stops, road and intersection upgrades, and significant street and corridor greening. It caters to increasing demands for movement of people and goods from the planned growth areas at the western end and an established activity center at its eastern end.
