Keeping a dairy co-operative powered up for over 20 years
Fonterra is a New Zealand dairy co-operative supplying dairy products all across the globe. As the dairy giant’s manufacturing site in Edendale continues to grow and expand, our team of electrical engineers has been there.
In our 20-year history with the site's infrastructure, we’ve had hands-on involvement with construction and commissioning that includes high voltage (HV) developments and the design of many of the utility 400V systems. We’ve updated new motor control centres that consolidate multiple motors in one location for various energy centres that contain electrical power, heat generating equipment, and replacement boards for older mechanical and water services boards.
Our team’s electrical work covers all areas, from the incoming high voltage electrical supply lines and 33kV high voltage substation transformers to the 11kV lines that distribute power around the site and the final 400V transformers. Most of the projects have been triggered by new major plant expansions. Simply extending the systems is only half the story. While working within tight budgets and time constraints, the plant’s existing systems were modified and manipulated to equalise the load and spread of electricity across the site power network, increase reliability, and control single points of power failure—all with an eye on possible future growth.
Our services have helped Fonterra remain agile and current as its business has evolved.
